We’re knee-deep in summertime here at Aisle Planner and—with busy season in full swing and so many events and clients to juggle at once—we wanted to focus our efforts this July on being open. With workflows to follow and checklists to adhere to, oftentimes so many of us can be on auto-pilot as planners during the summer. But, while having and sticking to a solid routine is an absolute must for business owners, it’s also important to be open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. We love today’s wallpaper download, then, because Asimov’s words remind us to do just that.
Scrubbing off our internal windows to let some light in every now and then is one of the best things a business owner can do—especially as a creative professional in an industry that’s constantly evolving. As planners and event pros with decades of experience under our belts, finding that perfect balance between sticking to proven routines and being open to new ways of attacking challenges is something we admittedly struggle with. After all, when you’ve spent years developing a workflow or routine that works for you, it’s hard to see anything that might disrupt that workflow as anything other than an unwanted distraction.
Asimov’s words, though, remind us that opening our mind to new ideas doesn’t mean opening our mind to distractions but, instead, simply means letting in some much needed light—light that, if we’re lucky—might just end up serving us. And, if we’re really lucky, light that just might end up opening our minds to better, more streamlined, more effective ways of doing things.
So, as we spend the month of July focusing on being open, we encourage you to keep that mind of yours (and the assumptions it has spent years subconsciously building) scrubbed and open to all of the light and new ideas that are out there, ripe for the picking—we just have to be able to see the tree to get to the fruit. So, download today’s wallpaper and let it remind you to spend your July being open.
Cheers, Aisle Planners, to letting in the light this month!
