Art of Planning: Jennywennycakes
October 20, 2015

Today, we are so thrilled to continue our “Art of Planning” series—where we give you a behind-the-scenes look at different design elements from some of our favorite weddings—with a super sweet treat. Jennywennycakes created this clean, floral-inspired tiered treat for Diana and John’s museum wedding, and we are excited to share their design process with you. The artful setting had the couple originally considering a geometric cake, but once the pastry professionals over at Jennywenny saw the couple’s invitation suite, they knew they struck gold (or, in this case, really pretty pink). The contrast of both a sweet blush against a stark navy and soft flowers against sharp squares inspired Jenny and her team to create a design as romantic as it was edgy.

The team started with sketches of round cakes, but eventually opted for a square shape to compliment the clean and sharp aesthetic of the invitation suite. Navy blue floral line drawings on defined fondant plaques made for a design as romantic as it was modern. We love everything about this one—from the simple (but completely unforgettable) monogram on the top tier to the whimsical hand-drawn flowers below it. So get your forks out, folks, and get ready to dig in to one of the dreamiest cakes we’ve seen to date. Bon appétit!
